Your first session will generally last 90 minutes. Your first session is a chance for you to make sure you feel comfortable with your therapist and for them to check that they have the skills and expertise to support you. During this appointment, the Christian counselor will provide a thorough evaluation, spend time getting to know you and work with you to identify your therapy goals. A detailed treatment plan is then developed, including how frequently you will meet with your counselor.

Once the treatment goals have been outlined all subsequent appointments will last 55 minutes and may be conducted in person or via video sessions. The course of treatment will depend on the factors outlined above. 

Where school-age children are involved, the counselor will send a brief questionnaire to the student’s homeroom teacher and may request to schedule 30-minute classroom observation(s). It is ideal to observe the child in both a classroom learning environment and in an informal play environment. These classroom observations will be scheduled directly with the school administration and/or classroom teachers after a Release of Information has been signed by the child’s legal guardian.
